Academic Information

With its standards of excellence, The Comillas Foundation strives to respond to the specific learning needs of Spanish for Students, Teachers, Executives and Institutions interested in advancing in the field of Spanish.

Concerning students, in addition to constantly adapting the teaching of the language to each student's individual profile and to their specific needs and interests, the Comillas Foundation also endeavors to fuse language and culture together as indissoluble parts of Spanish. In order to do so, great care will be taken to ensure that students not only learn the language at different levels, but also closely experience Spanish culture on a day to day basis during their stay in Comillas.

On the other hand, our centre is also intent on satisfying even the most demanding needs of Spanish teachers, which is why we offer a course design which is totally adapted to the current situation of the teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language. Thus, courses for Spanish teachers are based around the three main issues involved in teaching: how to teach, who to teach; and what to teach. Therefore, the Courses for Teachers are structured into three large areas which refer to teaching methodology, characteristics of the students and teaching contents. Special importance shall be given to any weaknesses that teachers of Spanish for Special Needs may demonstrate in their teaching.

A specially adapted educational package has been created with extra care for Executives and Professionals. Much more than a general knowledge of the Spanish language and Hispanic culture, people who use Spanish for work purposes have very specific needs. These needs are based mainly on communication skills and on the areas in which these skills should be used. When planning the modules, these aspects are considered fundamental to the courses offered by our centre.

Finally, the Comillas Foundation opens its doors to Institutions which may need its facilities to improve the aptitudes and skills of their employees through training courses. In this way, there is a strengthening of the Foundation's interest in using the language in professional contexts.
